Practices for West Seattle Junior Football and Cheer get underway Aug. 7 at Hiawatha field. The organization is an age/weight based league, so kids play with kids their same size. They also teach "Heads-up Football" and have athletic trainers at every game. This program offers participation for youth football and cheer practice and game events.
Teams in the Northwest Junior Football League are organized by age and weight with six levels of play for ages 6-14. This the most widely used approach in junior football. Other leagues may not account for weight variations and may offer fewer levels of play. Their approach is structured to increase participation opportunities and safety for all players.
