Ballard Hospital hit by data theft, check records

Over a thousand recent patients at Swedish Medical Center's Ballard Campus are being advised to check their credit reports after the personal information of three people was stolen from the hospital.

According to Swedish Medical Center, the three patients may have been the victims of identity theft by a former employee who stole their names, birth dates and Social Security numbers from hospital files.

As a precaution, Swedish has told 1,100 in-patients or day-surgery patients who visited the hospital between June 22, 2006 and Sept.

Future looks bright after Beaver's playoff loss

It was Beavers versus Mustangs last Saturday night as Ballard played its first post season game in recent memory on the road at Redmond High.

Although the final score was Redmond 1-0, the Mustang's only point came three minutes into the game. From that point Ballard played Redmond even.

The Beavers came into the game with a 6-4-0 league record. Redmond was 6-2-2.

The Mustang's only two losses were handed to them by the Beavers.

Beaver power shows up early, fades late against Bellevue

In football, the Ballard Beavers wrapped up their season last Thursday with a 36-15 defeat to the perennial powerhouse from the eastside, the Bellevue Wolverlines.

Each KingCo 4A team was scheduled to play non-league game with a 3A school this season and unfortunately the Beavers were matched up with Bellevue.

Ballard earned Bellevue's respect, holding their high powered offense in check during the first quarter.

'Skin of Our Teeth' on stage

You don't have to go downtown to see great theatre with the Ballard High School Drama Program presenting "The Skin of Our Teeth," a Pulitzer Prize winning play written by Thornton Wilder.

The play runs on Nov. 2, 3 and 4 in the school's auditorium and features a cast of 15 with 14 extras.

Wilder wrote "The Skin of Our Teeth," in 1942 featuring the Antrobus family, parents George and Maggie Antrobus, children Gladys and Henry, and maid Sabina.

Senior Josh Johnson plays the Mr. Antrobus, the father. "I feel pretty good to have the run of the family.

Power thieves busted by apartment manager

1. The managers of the Campus Grove Apartments called 911 to report that the tenants in unit 61-3 had unlawfully entered the neighboring apartment to steal electricity from the vacant unit. The Campus Grove Apartments are located at 1300 Southwest Campus Drive. The suspects broke into the neighboring unit 61-2 and plugged in an extension cord. They were illegally consuming the power because their own electricity had been shut off since September 28.

Dorothy J. Limbert

Dorothy J. Limbert, age 82, died on Oct.12, 2006, in Burien. Born on August 23, 1924, in Elk, Wash., she has resided in the Seattle area for over 60 years, and for the last 50 years in the house she shared with her husband, Harvey.

She attended Washington State College (now University) where she studied home economics, and went on to work at The Boeing Company and Sand Point Naval Station, serving as a computer programmer.

Nettie J. Drisko

Nettie J. Drisko passed away 19 October 2006. She was born 91 years ago in Goldfield, Colorado on 26 June 1915. Her parents Robert Blair and Martha Torrance moved the family to Ballard around 1920. She graduated from Ballard High School. She was preceded in death by her brother James, her sister Bertha, her first husband Emmett O'Brien and her second husband Clarence Drisko. She is survived by her brother Robert Blair (Mary Jane), son Jim O'Brien (Barbara), daughter Janet Halemba (Ron), and step-son Dan Drisko.
