Tukwila firefighters responded to a fire at Airport Valley Vinyl on May 29 at 7:40 a.m. Heavy smoke was coming from the building at 14612 Military Road S.
Troubled youth could be placed at even higher risk if school resource officers (SROs) at three Highline District high schools are eliminated through budget cuts to offset a revenue shortfall.
This was the message from several concerned citizens who spoke to Highline School Board members at their May 24 meeting.
Superintendent John Welch recently suggested that the district stop funding SROs at the Highline, Evergreen and Tyee campuses to cut costs.
A special luminaria ceremony during this weekend's American Cancer Society Relay For Life-of Highline will remember those lost to cancer and honor those who have survived.
This year's Relay For Life-of Highline - described by organizers as a "celebration of life" - will begin Saturday, June 10, at 3 p.m. and continue until 9 a.m. Sunday, June 11, at the Olympic Middle School track, 615 S.
The five sites on this year's Highline Garden Tour run the gamut from lakefront to the newly upgraded Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden.
Sponsored for a second year by the Highline Historical Society, the tour will take place Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m.
