Sheila Joy Norton, born in Grandview, Wash., August 7, 1932, passed peacefully in Des Moines on September 27, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Joy (Butch), Paul, Valerie (Steve), Tina (George) and Lisa (Dominic); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl and Pauline; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 51 years, James Daniel, in 2003.

She retired from the Post Office in 1992.

(Schﾚn) Bates

Brigitte Sieglinde (Schﾚn) Bates, age 58, of Arlington passed away on September 28, 2007, at Swedish Medical Center. Born February 17, 1949, in Gelsenkirchen, West Germany, Brigitte moved with her family to Quebec, Canada, in 1955 and then to Chicago Heights, Ill., in 1957. After 10 years in Chicago, most of her family then moved to Renton where she graduated from Renton High School in 1969.

On June 27th 1970 she married the love of her live, Al 'Tiger' Bates in Seattle.

Arnold

Donald Richard (Dick) Arnold of Burien died peacefully Sept. 24, 2007, after a courageous and hopeful battle with cancer.

His final resting place on this earth will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, where he will be buried with the honors due him as a career Marine Corps veteran who served in Korea as well as two tours of duty in Vietnam.

His Marine Corps career included a two-year stint as Drill Sergeant at Camp Pendleton, as well as recruiting officer in Binghamton, N.Y. A second career followed in mail handling for the U.S.

Our favorite free spirited West Seattle resident passed away in September.

Everyone who knew Gert loved and admired her unique personality and vibrant active lifestyle. She had a great sense of adventure, traveling to the southwest, Idaho and especially Montana, where she would find the perfect campsite and swimming hole. Also our family made many trips to her mother and stepfather's lakeside cabin in Minnesota, which included a sauna. She was so proud of her Finnish heritage.

Age 45, of Warwick, Rhode Island passed away September 25th due to complications caused by a brain aneurism. She was a CNA/CMT for 24 years at Harborside Healthcare-Pawtuxet Village.

Born in West Seattle, daughter of Sandra Larson (Comenote) and the late Richard Larson. Survived by her husband Joe DaPonte

Tammy was the mother of Nathan, Jorden, Nikki and Tara; grandmother of Joshua T. Bloschichak Jr.; sister of Kevin, Frank, Jamie Larson, Christina Solemsaas and the late Ricky Larson.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 13th at 2 p.m. St.

Born in Seattle to Ruby Wilson and Richard Landreth. Raised by Bill and Ellen Jones in Seattle/White Center. The first of four generations to attend W.S.H.S. graduated 1927.

Ruby is survived by four children; Diana Boling, Spokane, Jerry Fisher, Fairbanks AL, Dixie Lynch, Seattle, and Judy Harrington, Huntington Beach CA; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

She retired as a secretary from Smith-Berger Company. Enjoyed time with her family, W.S. Eagles, W.S.

Passed away unexpectedly at his home with his wife by his side on September 24, 2007. Born on June 13, 1931, Vernon was a lifelong Ballard resident. He was a graduate of Ballard High School and the University of Washington. He had a forty-year career in banking. During retirement he spent twenty years volunteering for his son and son-in-law's business.

Vern was the kind of man who would do anything for his family. They could always count on him for help and unconditional love and support.

Died after fighting a long illness on September 29, 2007. Born January 18, 1929 in Seattle on Lawton Street in Magnolia. Glen lived many places in Western and Eastern Washington. He finally settled in Ballard living in the same house for 50 years.

Glen loved hunting and exploring the backcountry. He enjoyed the area around Lake Joy and built the families summer homes on the lake. Glen served during the Korean Conflict at the invitation of President Truman as an MP and then pursued a career with the Seattle Police Department from 1953-1983.

A pioneer of modern U.S. fisheries in the North Pacific died Sunday in Seattle. Petersen was among a handful of fishing leaders credited with expanding American fisheries beyond traditional near shore waters to compete with and ultimately displace the foreign fleet from the nation's fertile offshore waters.

Petersen passed away on August 19 after a long struggle with lung disease. He was 78.

Rudy spent his life dedicated to the independent fisherman. Rudy was a charter member and served as President and Director of many fishermen's associations.

Mary Ann Schmidt - Born 1932 in Billings, Montana. Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept 23rd. Mary Ann has resided in the Kent, Washington area for over sixty years.

Mary Ann loved her crafts, teaching and sharing her talents and gifts. Her most loved crafts were knitting, sewing, doll making and quilting. She loved to travel and some of her fondest memories were visiting and fishing in Alaska. Mary Ann will truly be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Robert Schmidt Sr., and her children Lynn (Bart), Bob Jr.
