Joann HUGHES

Joann Veit Hughes died Aug. 13, 2006. She was born April 27, 1920, in Union City, Indiana. At 23, after graduating from Indiana University, she came west to share married life with Joe Hughes of Ellensburg, Wash. She grew to love the Northwest and consider it her home. In 1954, she moved to Seattle where she began a 40-year career in the Highline School District.

Nora G. PRATT

Nora was peacefully taken to Heaven on July 28, 2006, where she joined her late husband, Jim, and eldest son Dennis.

Nora was born in Seattle on Feb. 8, 1931, to Robert and Myrtle Fullerton. Experiencing a hard life growing up, she promised herself that her children and their children would have a better life. She gave exactly that, bestowing upon her family, as well as her friends, her strength, kindness and a love that no other could give.

Grant E. OLSON

1931 - 2006

Grant Olson was born on March 9, 1931, in Mirror, Alberta, Canada. He was the youngest child of four. Grant grew up in Mirror, went to school there, but was also very active helping his dad on their farm.

In the early fifties, he joined the aviation branch of the Navy and was stationed in Kansas but also had occasion to be in Colon, Panama, working as a driver for the commander.

Susan J. (McGee) ALLRED

Susan J. (McGee) Allred of Lilliwaup, Mason County, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at Valley Medical Center in Renton. She was 62 years of age.

Sue was born on Oct. 12, 1943, in Tonasket, Wash., the daughter of Vincent Paul and Catherine (Welch) McGee. She married Jay C. Allred on Feb. 19, 1966. They lived in the Top Hat area of South Seattle for over 30 years.

Following their retirement in 2000, Sue and Jay moved from their Seattle home to Lilliwaup, where they were active members of their community, the Colony Surf club.

Nora G. Pratt

Joseph Edward McQuade

Joseph Edward McQuade, born in Litchville, North Dakota, on November 17, 1919, as the second child to Martin L. McQuade and Olga A. Nelson-McQuade, passed away on August 2, 2006, at the age of 86.

There were nine McQuade children in all. Marvin was born first (now deceased), Joe, John (also deceased), Melford, Pete, Norma, Pat and Patsy (twins) and Jeannie.

Dorothy "Dottie" Howard

Born February 9, 1938 in Watertown, SD, and passed away August 4, 2006 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 68. Dottie is survived by her Daughter Jodie Dobson and son-in-law David Dobson of Spokane, Washington, Six grandchildren, and one great grandchild of Spokane, Washington. One brother Jim and sister in law Jean Gabert of Watertown SD, her step father George Comonelle of Seattle, Washington. One sister Shirley Pratt and her husband Ernest of Watertown, SD., The Miller and Knoxx families of Seattle, Many friends and family members of Seattle, and all of the grand kids on the hill.

Richard William Gross

June 26, 1949 - August 5, 2006

In loving memory of a devoted husband, father, brother and friend. Son of the late William Danielson and Shelia May Wahlgren. Former wife of 25 years Sabina Lucille Gross, father of Richard James (mother Cyndi Wanzer), Charles Everett (mother Lorriane Tucker), Francis Julian and Anthony Roger Gross, brothers to Gary A.

Darlene I. Benham

Darlene was born in Tenino, Washington September 4, 1936 and passed away in Tacoma on July 31, 2006. She spent her youth in West Seattle, moving to Tacoma 19-1/2 years ago.

She was a member for 35 years of the West Seattle Eagles. She is survived by Jim, her loving husband of 52 years 8 months; daughter Terri; son Jim Jr.; sisters Lavilla (Victor) and Gladys (Keith); her brother Ken (Pat). She leaves behind three grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and best daughter-in-law, Helen. Memorial services will be held August 12th at 10 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W.

Ralph Gordon Foster

Ralph passed away peacefully on August 2, 2006 at the age of 97. Ralph was born on July 4, 1909 in Seattle, Washington. He lived at Alki as a boy and this is where he met Shirley Ann Mclellan, his future wife. Ralph worked at many different jobs during his life but his pride of accomplishment was the 35 years at Boeing until his retirement. Following retirement he continued to work at many different jobs; guard duty at Bethlehem Steel, a census taker, telephone book distribution and a school crossing guard for eight years, plus volunteering in the library of Schmitz Park Elementary School.
