Fay A. Lowthian

Born on July 26, 1920 in Lockwood, Ohio to Dale and Lavinia Horton and passed away on Feb. 7, 2009 in Seattle. Fay, as an infant, moved to the Yakima Valley, living in Grandview and Sunnyside.

Herbert Rex Koenigshof

(March 31, 1927 - February 28, 2008)

Passed away at home in Seattle, Washington on February 28, 2008. He was born March 31, 1927 in Buchanan Michigan to Sylvia (Wolkins) and Edward Koenigshof.

His childhood in rural Buchanan Michigan was full of wonderful memories of adventurous times and a few playful pranks with his brothers and sister. Especially memorable was growing up in the log home his father built.

Herbert served his country in the United States Navy during World Was II.

Rick Louis Novito

December 26, 1953 - February 27, 2008

Rick was a gifted, wonderful, thoughtful and pure person.

Lorraine Elizabeth (Noonan) Durkan

Mrs. Durkan is a former executive editor of the Ballard News-Tribune passed away on Feb. 23 from cancer.

Durkan was born on Sept. 8, 1924 and graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1942. She attended the University of Washington in 1947, majoring in English. At the university, she was the president of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Her obituary describes how she drove a jitney on the waterfront during the World War II.

Sheila Cox

Sheila Marie Cox, passed away on Feb. 26, 2008 after a long fight with cancer. Although she never married, her family was large and included many persons whom she deeply touched. Her adult years were filled with a joyful approach to life. Always ready to share her life experiences and insights with those who asked. She was a good listener and a compassionate advocate for the underdog.

A resident of Ballard for more than 65 years, Sheila attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and Holy Angels High School, graduating from there in 1959.

Dorothy R. Wells

Dorothy Ruth (Eggers) Wells, 85, formerly of Santa Rosa, Calif., died peacefully Feb. 22, 2008 in Seattle. She was born Nov. 6, 1922 in Haddam, Kan. to William and Delia Serafin Eggers. She graduated from Springfield Baptist Hospital's Diploma Nursing Program in Springfield, Mo. on Nov. 2, 1946. Dorothy worked as a registered nurse for the next 45 years.

Dorothy married Dorsey Wells in 1951 and moved to Santa Rosa, Calif. in 1955 where they settled to raise four daughters together until his sudden death in Nov. 1973.
