Marjorie Elizabeth Gunderson

Our beautiful mother, Marjorie Elizabeth Gunderson, 88, nee Brenaman, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at The Right Place, the senior living residence where she had lived and was lovingly cared for these last three years. Until a month before his death in 2001, she had cared for our father in their home. Ralph had lived many years with multiple sclerosis. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the MS Society. That would be a fitting tribute for them both.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son years ago named Kenneth.

Elaine S. Gourley

Elaine Stewart Gourley passed away peacefully, at the age of 83, on February 14, 2008, at her residence at Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle, Washington.

Elaine was born on October 2, 1924, in West Seattle to Leona and Fred D. Stewart. Her father was in the dairy business with The Carnation Company, and as a child she lived in Okanogan, Friday Harbor, and North Seattle. Elaine graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1942. After graduating high school, Elaine attended Washington State University and then served her country during the latter part of World War II.

Betty Jean Cook

Aug. 5, 1938 - Feb. 12, 2008

Daughter of John and Betty Keeley. Beloved Mother of David, Steve, Sam Cook and Melissa Bustos. Grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Sister to Grace Renz, Jackie Kruse, Suzanne Hicks and Kathleen Dunbar.

Memorial services were held at the Alaska House located on the corner of 42nd and Alaska SW, Seattle, WA 98116, on the 23rd of February, 2008.

Timothy Dwain Framke

"Softtail Tim"

Tim went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2008. Born on May 21, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Jerald and Barbara Framke. Tim loved his country and served with the U.S. Army for 2 years. Tim worked as a concrete finisher with the Cement Masons Union Local 528. Tim loved to ride his Harley and was a member of CMA, Christian Motorcyclist Association, which ministers to the motorcyclist in need of Christ.

Julia M. McKinney

Born April 15, 1935, in Rapid City, S.D., and passed away February 16, 2008, in Seattle. Beloved wife of 52 years of Mike; mother of Tari (Dwight) Talada and Brian (Susan) McKinney and grandmother of Ayla, Julia, Connor and Joshua. Visitation was held at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel on February 22 with a Funeral Mass on February 23 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien. Memorials are suggested to the local hospice. CDR Max J. Roushman, Jr.

On Saturday, February 9, 2008, the Greater Highline area and the world at large lost a friend in the death of CDR Max J. Roushman, Jr., when he "slipped the surly bonds of earth ..." and passed over to the other side. The combined efforts of the Burien/Normandy Park Fire Department and King Count Medic One were unable to bring him back.

Max was born in Cascade, Montana, on August 29, 1919, and always carried the spirit of the "Big Sky Country" in his heart. He displayed those values in his daily words and actions.

Jean M. McCarty

Greenwood/Ballard resident Jean M. McCarty passed away on February 7, 2008. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Art (who died this previous November), her daughter Carol (died in July 1997), and her sister, Gloria. She is survived by her granddaughter Tammy, Tammy's husband Bret, and great-grandchildren Tony, Charlie, Sam and Savannah. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 16, at Columbia Lutheran Home at 4700 Phinney Ave. N. 98103.

Walter John Curtis

November 27, 1942 - January 30, 2008

Our father always had a strong attraction to Ballard. He played football with the Ballard Boys Club and baseball with the Little League. He attended Ballard High School, from 1956 - 1959. From the mid 60's to early 70's he owned the "First Addition" tavern in Greenwood. He was a member of the Seattle Inboard Racing Association from the 1962 - 1980. He is survived by his three children - Stacey, Mike and Peggy (Milan) and three grand children Joshua, Robert and Nickolai.

Gary Tone Christensen

Nov. 16, 1934 - Feb. 6, 2008

Silverdale, Wash.

Gary passed away at home with his wife of 54 years, Carole, daughter, Dawn Johnson and son, Brian Christensen at his bedside.

Gary was born in Omaha, Neb. and moved to Ballard in 1948. After graduating Ballard High in 1952 He attended OC/PSNS engineering/training program in Bremerton where he met and married Carole (Winger).

He worked at Boeing for 10 years. He and his father founded "Lortone, Inc." Lapidary Equipment Manufacturing Co. in 1964.
