Carl Jensen

Carl Jensen passed away on Nov. 21, 2006, of cancer at age 97. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Archer Jensen.

He leaves a son Larry Jensen and wife Joanie, three grandchildren, one great grandchild and nephews and nieces Ernest Jensen, Ron Jensen, Roy and Eleanor Archer, Jerry and Darlene McNaul, Betty Stone, Barbara Tollefson and Carita Calderone, as well as special friends Hans Thompson and Jim Huntley.

An alumnus of Central Washington and the University of Washington, Carl enjoyed a fulfilling life.

Pamela J. (Robinson) Little

Pam was born to Allan and Donna Robinson in August 1948. She passed away at home on November 14, 2006. She was the middle child of three daughters. The familly lived i the Ballard area where she graduated from Ballard High School in n1966 and attended Shoreline Community College. She worked as a data processor.

She met her busband, Robert, in the summer of '62 and they were married in 1967. They were married for the past 39 years.

Pam was the mother of two sons, Chad and David, and a daughter, Cheri.

In 1988 she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.

Jerry Jackson

Jerry Jackson will be remembered as a kind, generous, eternal optimist with a quit wit and an easy smile that he would share with the closest of friends as well as strangers who were simply friends he had not yet met.

Jackson, 69, died peacefully on November 20th after a 5 year battle with cancer. He had defied the odds, surviving 3 years beyond all prognoses.

Virginia Mae LaMoria

Virginia Mae LaMoria was born May 12th 1917 in Dubuque, IA, to Crystal and Albert Witte. In her late teens, she, with her family, moved to Seattle, WA where they lived across the street from Alki Beach. There she met Robert Ernest LaMoria and the two were married in January 27, 1935. She loved small children and animals of all kinds. She also loved poetry and over the years, wrote several hundred poems. She was a resident of Federal Way for 12 years. On November 9, 2006, in Federal Way, WA, she passed away from respiratory and heart failure. She was 89 years old.

Ron L. Cole

Ron L. Cole, 63, a Port Orchard and Goodyear, Arizona resident since 1999, passed away on Nov 20, 2006, due to complications of open heart surgery.

Ron was a graduate of University of Puget Sound, a retired commercial mortgage banker, and a B-52 pilot during the Vietnam War. He was a member of The Church at Litchfield Park in Arizona.

Sherill L. de Carrico

Sherill L. de Carrico, 65, died surrounded by her children at her home in Federal Way on 11/15/2006. She was born in Wichita, KN on 3/23/1941.

Sherill was a spiritual woman who fiercely loved her family and was cherished by them. She befriended all that she met. She had adventure in her blood and loved to travel the country. Her many accomplishments included being voted Miss Congeniality as Miss Federal Way in 1959. She authored and illustrated a children's book and loved to dance so much that she owned a dance studio.

Kennedy second

Kennedy rolled all the way into the state Class 3A girls volleyball finals before taking a loss to Bishop Blanchet of Seattle.

Blanchet reigns as the volleyball champion after its 25-19, 25-19, 25-15 victory.

Rachel Moran had 23 assists for the Lancers and Stephanie Slatt nine kills and three blocks. Ashley Eneliko scored five kills and three blocks.

Youth center needs funds

A Seattle newspaper published an article headlined "Growing a Cash Crop." The article refereed to a farmer raising $34.5 million dollars to build a distillery to produce ethanol from corn in his home state of Iowa.

We have a cash crop that needs to be harvested in our own back yard, which is a proposed learning center called TAF (Technology Access Foundation) to be built in Lakewood Park North Highline Area.

What better cash crop than further educating the minds of our youth.

Nichols' column critiqued

In the "Comment" section in the November 8th Highline Times, Ralph Nichols should have ended his remarks after congratulating Eric Mathison on an excellent explanation of why Initiative 933 should be defeated. Instead he went on to suggest that anyone who agreed with Eric must have a liberal belief that the Constitution is a living document and should conform to the times.

In fact, I believe Mr. Nichols is the revisionist in this case.
